This past summer, Erick and I went to The Lost River Canyons on a whim. It was one of those endearingly hokey attractions with fake dinosaurs and decor that you could tell hadn't been updated from the 70's but it was a lot of fun strapping on boots and hunkering down under the earth for awhile. After we had our fill of stalagmite pictures, we made our way back up to earth to check out the equally hokey gift shop. To our delight there was actually a lot of *gems* (sorry) and we rifled through a few bins of rocks to take home for crafting. We eventually settled on these turquoise beauties and finally decided to pull them out of our craft drawer and make them magnets.
This DIY is super simple but has a beautiful end result. Read below for the tutorial.
You Will Need
- Some sort of small rocks or geodes
- Heavy duty crafting glue
- Large circular magnets like these
1.) Glue your magnet to your rock.
2.) Let it sit with a heavy object (such as a book) weighing it down as it drys for a few hours
3.) Decorate your fridge or any magnetic surface :)
